I’ve lived in Montreal for 30+ years. All that time I have never visited the Lachine Rapids. A nice leisurely walk along the banks of the St-Laurence River was just the right tonic for body and soul.
The autumn air was crisp and invigorating and the water swift, as I imagine it always is. My son-in-law Andy and I spent a couple of hours slowly walking the paths along the banks of this great river, stopping at the western tip for a light sandwich snack.
I’ll surely be back when Winter turns to Spring. The birds will be back I suppose; this is a bird sanctuary after all. Well worth the visit.
